Definitions and samples

  • abet (v.) to aid, help, encourage, assist (someone) to do something wrong

– Some governments aid and abet persecution by not protecting religious minorities.

  • abhor (v.) to hate, detest, to dislike (someone or something) very much

– If you are not eating and you abhor watery beer, you need to join a private club.

  • valid (adj.) correct. Able to be used

– Perhaps some of those reasons are no longer valid, but perhaps some of them are.

  • passionate (adj.) having a lot of emotion and love for something.

– What are you passionate about or what did you enjoy doing when you were younger?

  • pleasant (adj.) nice to be around. Enjoyable.

– It really is very pleasant to be outside, eating an informal breakfast or lunch.
