Definitions and samples
- salary (n.) money that you receive as payment from the organization you work for, usually paid to you every month
– The average salary for a teacher is $39,000 a year.
- tank (n.) the place where gas is stored in a car or other vehicle
– The water tank is leaking.
- obesity (n.) when someone is very fat in a way that is unhealthy
– A diet that is high in fat can lead to obesity.
- intense (adj.) having a very strong effect or felt very strongly
– The pain was so intense I couldn’t sleep.
- laundry (n.) clothes, sheets etc that need to be washed or have just been washed
– I do the cooking and my husband does the laundry.
