Definitions and samples

  • blend (verb & noun) mix together thoroughly; a mixture

– To make the parsley sauce, blend the milk and cornflour in a non-stick saucepan.

  • renew (v.) resume (an activity) after an interruption

– In many states you can even renew your car registration online with a few clicks.

  • renovate (v.) to repair a building or old furniture so that it is in good condition again

– They then began to renovate the hotel and to solicit investments in the resort.

  • replace (v.) to start doing something instead of another person, or start being used instead of another thing

– Here is where you replace those items that were discarded and buy some new ones.

  • vary (v.) if several things of the same type vary, they are all different from each other

– Prices vary depending upon brand and style, but typically range from $20 to $60.
